Agenda of "hello meetings" when joining a new company/team
When I join a new company or a team, I meet with new colleagues for a short 1:1 hello meeting.
Usually, the agenda of each meeting is as follows:
Story about Rafal.
Story about you.
<1 or 2 questions about your work>
<1 or 2 questions about your environment / team / ways of working / tech>
Would you like to ask me something?
Is there any advice you could give me as a new member?
Can you share some useful links/resources with me after the meeting?
It is a hidden agenda. Dialogue is natural.
I am coming up with ideas for #3 and #4 based on the email footer or LinkedIn profile. I ask about the things I see as gaps in my knowledge after the previous hello 1:1s I had.
Sometimes the answer for #2 brings more ideas for #3 and #4.
And #7 is a good opener for follow-ups.
After meeting everyone, I have some understanding of how things work.
