The Five Tribal Stages
Many great books are no longer super popular today. One is Tribal Leadership (2011) by Dave Logan, John King and Halee Fischer-Wright.
It brings an amazing model of The Five Tribal Stages:
Stage 1: “Life sucks.”
Stage 2: “My life sucks.”
Stage 3: “I’m great (and you’re not).”
Stage 4: “We’re great.”
Stage 5: “Life is great.”
On top of these stages, the book focuses on two things: the words people use and the types of relationships they form.
“Every tribe has a dominant culture, which we can peg on a one-to-five scale, with the goal being stability at Stage Four, and on occasion leaps to Stage Five.”
You influence others by the language that you use. And you’re influenced by what you hear from them.
